Look at ALL these snacks collected by our group and many more.. ALL for Hesed House!!!

April 20

The numbers!

***18,000*** Cloth crafted no-sew masks out to our community!! (to be made, have been given to above charities/healthcare providers.. or kept for those who made!)

-***32,950*** the number of masks the amount of material our group has purchased will make!!

** 22 cents per mask for supplies (shop towel, zip ties, rubber bands, paper clip and bag to hold)

** $6,855 raised!! We are within $400 of covering the cost of our current supplies! IF we receive donations above what we have purchased, we will order more!

**1,200 donated surgical and N95 masks

**1,000 hand sewn masks donated!!

Crazy to think that it was only TWO WEEKS AGO TODAY our cloth mask making project started with sharing a video!! And one month ago tomorrow the entire project started as an idea to connect nurses, RT's and docs on the front lines with masks hand sewn and donated masks from our community!

On April 6th, and after two weeks of getting frantic calls/txts from those on the front lines asking for hand sewn masks, we realized we were never going to have the capacity to meet the need list we were receiving.

We read an article quoting one of the inventors of the N95 masks suggesting using the shop cloth material as it was the best filter out there. Further unofficially lab tests found the shop material masks were even more effective than surgical masks!! After a couple of hours of figuring out how we make such a mask, we put out a video, and scraped together everything needed to make and ask for help from the community began sharing the material ... and the rest is history!!

As this project has been a bit of a build the plane after take off, we are so appreciative to everyone adapting to new methods of making the masks... and EVERYONE JUST JUMPING IN AND DOING THIER PART!!! It is crazy to think of the over 100 people who have made this a success!! And all the people who are kindly giving of their time, connections, resources, finances.. and PASSION!!!
